I always think CAP (consumer association of Penang) tend to over-react and point out bad practices and so-called unhealthy issues just for the sake of it. They have small booklets opposing anything and everything they could possibly think of from women wearing mini-skirts (apparently it is bad for health, go figure) to the more legit ones of high amount of pesticides being used in vegetables and fruits.

It is all and well if they were to act as a real watchdog over unscrupulous companies that do not bother to keep to the health guidelines set by our government or better, by the World Health Organisation. However, I have found that they tend to get their facts wrong and yes, they too tend to be biased. They will raise a furore just because they wanted to.

Take the call for a ban of handphones back in May. They based that on some obscure research which did not even prove a direct link between handphone use and cancer while there are numerous other research which proved that there were no direct link between handphone use and cancer. I even wrote about it here.

Then recently there is this complaint that PBA has been using bleach to clean the dam but it turned out that they were using some cleaning agent and it was not the dam, just the side walls where the scuds flow down a drain and NOT into the dam. This means that they had once again got their facts wrong.

NGOs like this should not be raising panic amongst the people with their sensational press conferences (which will be splashed across all newspapers). They should at least get their facts right and CHECK with the people they are complaining against first. Only when they had gathered enough evidence and with an unfavourable response from ‘perpetrator’ then they should publicise their so-called ‘breaking’ news.

If all CAP ever do is just to complain over this and that, like a naggy, grumpy old grandma, then it is not really representing consumers because aren’t they suppose to help consumers by giving them solutions too? What’s the point of complaining no end when they do not even try to find a solution for consumers?

Might as well change their name to Complaining Association of Penang.

DAP chairman Karpal Singh is right to tell former Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon and his Gerakan friends to ride off into the sunset gracefully instead of immersing themselves in this media blitz to point the fingers at the current state administration under Lim Guan Eng.

I mean you were already being shown the door by Penangites, so leave already! And then all this pretentious ‘I do not want to meddle’ crap while you tell your Gerakan friends to issue this or that statement, most recently by Mark Ooi. Please lah, you think Penangites all blind and stupid issit?

In Karpal’s word (excerpt taken from Malaysiakini:)

Koh should not continue to claim credit for “the few good things” done during his 18-year tenure as Penang chief minister, said Karpal, but accept the reality that the days of his “pomp and splendour have come and gone”.

Yep, stop it already, Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon. Karpal dishes out more gems in Malaysiakini:

Karpal also described Koh as having been a puppet chief minister, whose administration had accommodated the demands and commands of Umno, instead of protecting the rights and interests of the people of Penang.

As a result, the post-election Pakatan Rakyat government has inherited an administration that is ridden with scandal and controversy.

“By virtue of having more seats in the state assembly, it was Umno calling the shots and was filching many prized projects during Koh’s time,” said Karpal, who is the Bukit Gelugor MP.

He reminded Koh (left) to be grateful to Lim for coming to his defence when Umno members openly demonstrated against him during the Tanjung Umno divisional meeting presided by party president Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in 2006.

“By then Koh should have stepped down gracefully, but he didn’t. Then the Penang voters had to (make sure that he did) so. Thus he should not interfere, and should retire and ride into sunset in grace and dignity,” said Karpal.

IMHO, it is time for sour grapes to be disposed of and those sore losers to really disappear. Enough is enough. Don’t they even know the meaning of sportsmanship?

You lost the match lar, so get lost. Don’t act all self-righteous, point fingers, blame the other team, blame everyone else, call the winning team names and in short, be a total arse. Just get lost.

We voters are so sick and tired of this pointless shenanigans by those sore losers be it Gerakan, Umno, MCA, MIC or whatever.

And of all the cheek, Koh has also said in the Chinese dailies that he is sure that Gerakan will recapture Penang in the next general elections. Wah, what confidence. This is after pointing fingers and acting all self-righteous.

We shall wait and see, won’t we?

It looks like Karpal’s worries will see no end.

What with all that fuss over his alleged seditious remark that the Sultan of Perak did not have any say in the decision made by the state government, now, he gets a death threat for uttering that remark.

It was not enough that he gets 20 police reports lodged against him for that remark, it was also not enough that other DAP members seemed to have ‘abandoned’ him by not saying anything in support of him and now some idiot has decided to send him a live bullet with a death threat.

According to Malaysiakini:

The live bullet was accompanied with a note warning him against speaking out on the controversial issues of Malay rights and the constitutional powers of the sultans.

“Kalau tak berhenti, peluru ini akan melekat pada kepala dahi kau!” (If you don’t stop, this bullet will be lodged in your forehead).

Here is an image of the death threat taken from Malaysiakini:

You can read the whole article about the death threat in Malaysiakini here. I seriously do not understand all this fuss over Karpal’s remark which is simply:

“Sultan Azlan Shah did not have any say, as the Ruler of Perak, in the decision made by the state government and, by law, the palace cannot order the state government to reinstate Jamry.”

Heck, even Lilian aka 5xmom had pointed out in her blog post: Warkah untuk PM – Pak Lah pun sama dengan Karpal saja that Pak Lah had said about the same thing. But why is it okay for Pak Lah to say it but not okay for Karpal to say it?

Pak Lah had said (in March):

The appointment of anyone but Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh as Terengganu Mentri Besar is unconstitutional, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

“Most of the state assemblymen support Datuk Seri Idris. This fact remains unchanged. They are in agreement,” he told reporters after attending the 10th Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix yesterday.

“Therefore, appointing anyone else is not right constitutionally,” he said.

Abdullah was commenting on the Mentri Besar saga in which Kijal assemblyman Datuk Ahmad Said received his letter of appointment as the new Mentri Besar from Regency Advisory Council (MPPR) chief Tengku Sri Panglima Raja Tengku Baderulzaman at a closed-door ceremony at Istana Tetamu in Kuala Terengganu at 8.20am yesterday.

It all boils down to the double standards practiced by all the Bumbling Numbskulls who are in charge of the federal government now where it is right for one leader to say it is unconstitutional for the royalty to decide on a political appointment while it is wrong for another to say that the royalty cannot order the state government around.

Isn’t it all the same except in said in different words?

Sigh…what a bumbing mess those idiots are.

Rapists get to roam the streets to ruin and terrorize women and children.

Murderers get off scot-free.

Thieves, burglars and robbers are left to rob, steal and loot whenever they like.

Innocent people demanding their rights to a country free of the draconian ISA and asking for those detained under ISA to be released are arrested and thrown into lock-ups as if they are more dangerous than murderers, rapists, robbers, etc.

Reading news on Malaysiakini (where else, when the MSM seemed to have passed it by) of what happened to the activists on Sunday merely because they held a peaceful demonstration for the government to free the Hindraf 5 has left me in deep disgust over the hypocritical machinations of the BN government and its lackeys, the police force.

Excerpt from Malaysiakini:

Arrested for not dispersing

In Penang, OCPD Azam said Ong (Boon Keong) and Satish (Kumar) were picked up to question on their role in the demonstration.

A police team from the Pulau Tikus police station arrived at the demonstration scene at 11.10am and told the demonstrators to abandon the rally and disperse from the area.

However, Ong and Satish were arrested in Gurney Plaza, about 500 metres away, after they had left the venue.

Azam claimed the duo failed to adhere to police instruction to abandon the ‘illegal’ rally and leave the area.

However, a Hindraf activist from Penang, K Vasantha, 26, said the demonstrators were not told to disperse immediately.

“We were given 45 minutes and we complied to it. I don’t understand why our friends were arrested,” she said.

The Suaram duo however were detained after Lau (Shu Shi) lodged a police report against police harassment at the rally.

Lau had just came out from the Jalan Patani police station premise when an unidentified police officer raised his voice against her.

When Lau told the officer to lower his voice and show respect to her, a shouting match ensued between them. She was then taken under the police custody for questioning.

Teh (Chun Hong) was also detained for recording the Lau incident. His video camera was also seized.

It looks like the police knew they are doing something wrong or else why are they arresting people who may have pictorial evidence of their wrong-doing?

According to Anil Netto’s blog post:

Police seemed to be consciously aiming at photo and video takers. Ong was reported to be taking photo when arrested. Satish also said to be following the police with a camera around Gurney Plaza when arrested. Others taking phone video at the police HQ were hassled.

What is amazing about all this is that similar rallies were held in KL and Prai but nobody was arrested. So, why are the Penang police so zealously ‘hardworking’ in abusing their power?

Where is this zealousness when the Umno-idiots held a demonstration in Komtar two months back? They demonstrated over some stupid issue which affects no-one else but themselves without a permit too.

So, now just because some NGOs and social activists hold a rally demanding for their rights, it is wrong and disturbing the peace and obstructing the police?

What a load of bullshit.

What gets me even more riled up about this whole thing is that it was not mentioned at all in the MSM except for a few lines in The Star, hidden between the lines of KL rally story which ‘went well’.

For now, I’ve heard that the police suddenly wise up and has decided not to charge Lau and Teh. The duo may be released on police bail, according to the grapevine.

We shall wait and see.

Last night we had a literally sleepless night because we saw a burglar going from house to house in our neighbourhood in the dead of night and when we called the cops, they let the burglar escape scot-free.

Yep, the police really suck big hairy bull’s balls! Like big time!

Now let me recount the sequence of events:

1.45am: TH noticed a suspicious character lurking around some residential houses in our neighbourhood from our balcony. Since we are high up in an apartment, we can see what’s going on at the houses below us.

1.46am: TH called the police Bilik Gerakan (04-2691999 / 228 2222) and reported the suspicious character and gave complete details of the exact location including landmarks, which house, etc.

1.50am: The burglar has entered one of the houses by jumping over the fence so TH called again the cops again in a panic. They said the patrol car is on the way.

1.55am: By now, the burglar has jumped from house to house (those are terrace houses) by jumping over the fences. Since he looked empty handed, we were assuming that he must be searching through all the cars parked in the house compounds for money.

2am: TH called the police again and told them that the burglar had moved on to another street and again gave them the details. The patrol car is nowhere in sight. They said it is on its way.

2.10am: By now, the burglar has ‘covered’ about ten houses in that street and is scouting around another row of houses on the next street. Still, the patrol car is nowhere in sight.

2.20am: Finally the patrol car arrived. The burglar at this time is inside one of the houses. TH called the police and told them to inform the patrol car of the exact house where the burglar is. The patrol car stopped at the right place and two policemen got down. They called TH on his handphone to ask for further details and he told them specifically which house. They shone their torchlights around but apparently didn’t see anything.

However, instead of going up to the house to really check, they walked around and the moment their backs were turned, the burglar took the opportunity to jumped across the fencing to another house and from there, jumped out to the street and took off. TH immediately called the police and told them that the burglar had escaped.

In a normal situation with a good police team, the police would have ran and gave chase. However, those two idiots turned in slow motion and went ‘Mana? Tak nampak?’. TH told them that the burglar had ran off to a dark side lane leading to another road so they better make haste. So, again in slow motion, the two idiots talked for awhile and slowly got into their patrol car. Then, they cruised along the road, purportedly to look for the running burglar. By now, the burglar had got to another road and was merely half running and half walking.

Meanwhile, the fumbling bungling idiots took another road despite accurate, exact directions complete with road names and landmarks by TH over the phone and completely missed the escaping burglar.

After that, the burglar walked off to a road out of our view so we lost sight of him. The police continued to cruise around for awhile and then they too left.

The whole episode ended at around 3am.

So, the whole moral of this story is, don’t call the blardy cops if you are being robbed / saw a burglar or being threatened by criminals because:

1. It takes them 35 minutes to get to a place in a time when there is absolutely no traffic and the nearest police station is only 5 minutes’ drive away

2. Even if the criminal is right in front of them, they can’t see them. It is my deduction that criminals must have a police-proof shield where police could not see them even if they are standing right in front of them

3. The police tends to act in slow motion, probably thinking they are in some major Hollywood action-packed movie which needed a slow motion section of police ‘in action’.

4. It is more reliable to have your own CCTV, house alarm, high spiky fencing, plenty of lighting and a well-trained huge guard dog which will bite any uninvited trespassers especially in the middle of the night and not eat any food given by strangers.

5. You are not safe in your own home even with a police patrol car right outside your doorstep. If you depend on the police in Malaysia, you are doomed!

6. The police are too busy firing tear gas and water cannons at innocent people who were demanding their rights and arresting bloggers for sedition. They have no time for petty cases like murder, rape, robbery, burglary, snatch thefts, etc.

So, I read in the news that our second DCM Prof Dr Ramasamy was not allowed to go to Tamil schools to distribute glasses to poor deserving students because:

“It would disrupt the schooling hours of the students” according to the education department.

What a load of dirty rotten pig’s offals if you asked me!

So, last year, Dr Toh Kin Woon, who is from Gerakan, who at that time was in charge of education, was allowed to start such a programme and then go to schools to distribute the glasses during school hours. No problem. No ‘disrupt the schooling hours’ nonsense. He could do it in an official ceremony at the school hall during school hours. No objections. No restrictions.

Then, this year, Ramasamy, seeing the benefits of such a programme decided to continue with it. So, he informed the education department that he will be doing this on a given date. And then, wham! The department told him ‘No, you are not allowed to do it. You can’t do it during school hours in the schools’ for the reason mentioned above.

What nonsensical crap! So, when Toh Kin Woon did it, it was not disrupting the student’s schooling hours but when Ramasamy wants to continue with the programme, it is disrupting the student’s schooling hours????

So, it is better to just let the poor students go without new glasses rather than let them receive free glasses from the state government. All because of a verbal directive by the federal government (probably from Mr Keris) to all education departments to be ‘neutral’. (you can read about it in this post: What are they teaching the young?)

Don’t you think the stupid BN fellas are now really too much? They are even stopping the Pakatan Rakyat governments from helping the people! I say we remember all this bullshit they are doing (and will continue doing) for the next few years and remember NOT to tick on the box next to the scales! Anything but the stupid dacing!

So, the 19-year-old college student who thought it was fun to give death threats to a prominent politician and lawyer like Karpal Singh in a comment of a blog has learnt a really hard lesson.

He had his ass hauled in by the police as it is against the law to be issuing death threats and all.

That’s not all, the boy apparently is so desperate and repentant that he has written a letter to Karpal apologising for his ‘rash actions’. Karpal, being a real true empathetic gentleman, forgave him and now intended to try to help the boy!

Seems like Karpal will be appealing to the police to release the boy and not pursue the case. We are talking about the boy who said ‘darah karpal halal dibunuh’ in a blog. So, what made Karpal withdraw his report against the boy?

I happen to get a copy of the letter from the boy which I reproduce here( sorry, I have to remove the name and ic because I don’t want my own ass to be hauled into jail!) :

Terima Kasih.

Yang benar,

Muhammad Axxxxx

Heh… I think the boy won’t be mouthing off writing nonsensical comments in blogs or websites ever again!

So, to all you bloggers and commentators alike. Beware of what you write because the net has millions of eyes!

Well, there is an easy and free solution to that. Just sign up for the army and you may get to be sent to England with free food, free lodging and plenty of free time to tour the whole of England at the government’s…nay…more like, at our (the taxpayers’) expense!

Oh, wait! I’m sorry, the offer is only valid for those eligible to join the Royal Malay Regiment and from the looks of it, the offer has been snapped up. It was reported by Bernama here.

Shucks! No free two-month holidays for the rest of us unlucky ones… :’-(

Our government just can’t help but spend our money on frivolous things like sending our army personnel to guard, of all things, Buckingham Palace, St James’s Palace and the Tower of London.

Eh, I thought you all very pandai to sneer at the Western culture but now it is perfectly alright to spend our money, RM1.9mil of it to be exact, to send our army there?

What, pray, are they going to learn there? Learn to dress in ‘ceremonial temperate dress’ and strut around holding M16s? Yes, I am sure they will learn a lot from that two month stint there, NOT!

Sometimes it really do boggles the mind at how the government fritters away our money.

I read this very interesting news, though not Penang-related, but it is interesting nevertheless.

KUALA LUMPUR: The civil service has to respond not only to the conventional media but also the alternative media to deliver services more efficiently, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan said yesterday.

“Gone are the days when public officials could choose to ignore the media, complaints, telephones ringing or even letters to editors,” he said during a luncheon talk titled Challenges of Malaysian Business Competitiveness in the Global Economy.

He said the notion that the alternative media was associated with “young punks” no longer held true as it now knew no age limit.

“Even the Prime Minister himself has initiated a website for the public to write in directly to him on any issues,” he said.

The website – www.warkahuntukpm.com.my – was launched on March 1. – Bernama

Hmmm…the news is pretty confusing at best. It started by saying civil servants must respond to alternative media (which I take to mean online media and blogs) instead of just conventional media.

Then he went on to say that they have been ignoring the conventional media too.

So, which is which la?

Methinks the civil servants have been ignoring everything related to work so what’s the point of this issue inserted into your talk? Another gimmick to try to get more people to go to the warkah site?

Aiyah, you want to tell the civil servants to work instead of going for teh tarik every five minutes, say so la. No need to beat around the bush and using the words media and alternative media just to get your words into Bernama. Don’t worry la, you the chief secretary mah so sure la Bernama will put up whatever you said even if you talk crap.

And what’s with the alternative media associated to ‘young punks’ thing? Hello, you old foggies may think that but that does not mean everyone else think the same, okay?

The lesbian minister aka Azalina has decided to withdraw tourism support for five states by canceling tourism MoUs with the tourism action councils in the states which include Penang.

Then she said the councils will be under the ministry and not the state governments to ‘organise tourism events’ in the states but all the tourism events planned will be revised and reviewed.

After that she contradicted herself by saying that there is no boycott of tourism in these states.

Well, my dearest clueless former sports minister now turned tourism minister, canceling the MoUs is not boycott kah? And by the way, what is the point of this exercise except to tell the people that ‘you go vote for the Opposition la, now we won’t help you anymore’ in an obvious sore-loser kind of way?

Doesn’t it even cross your tiny corrupted mind that this will only affect the tourism industries in these states, more so the people in the industry, than anything else? What, you think the state governments are making money from tourism ke? Don’t tell me the small tiny li’l white mass in your head can’t make it clear for you that tourism benefits the people and the economy as a whole and not just the state governments?

Or you are worried that the funding channeled to the action councils will no longer be distributed amongst fellow Umnoidiotputras anymore if the councils are under the state governments? So, you have to remove the councils from the state government to ensure the funding channeled to them are safe and sound and will continue to feed the Swiss bank accounts of many other sore-loser idiots in the same bed as you? Hmm…one does wonder.

Fortunately, the Penang state government is not so perturbed by it due to tremendous support by private sponsors and corporations in state tourism events. The exco in charge, Danny Law has said that they will just have to find a way around it and get support from elsewhere such as the private sector although they still need federal funding for major projects.

“After all, the private sector is very supportive of this new state government because any proposed good projects now will not be hijacked and given to Umno as it used to happen previously,” he reportedly said.

Hmmm…methinks Danny, who is incidentally my long-time acquaintance, is improving and that is a good sign. He is finally settling down to the big task given to him and we can expect good things coming up in the tourism sector soon. After all, he had promised many ‘good news’ in the near future.

I shall await his good news.
