I always think CAP (consumer association of Penang) tend to over-react and point out bad practices and so-called unhealthy issues just for the sake of it. They have small booklets opposing anything and everything they could possibly think of from women wearing mini-skirts (apparently it is bad for health, go figure) to the more legit ones of high amount of pesticides being used in vegetables and fruits.

It is all and well if they were to act as a real watchdog over unscrupulous companies that do not bother to keep to the health guidelines set by our government or better, by the World Health Organisation. However, I have found that they tend to get their facts wrong and yes, they too tend to be biased. They will raise a furore just because they wanted to.

Take the call for a ban of handphones back in May. They based that on some obscure research which did not even prove a direct link between handphone use and cancer while there are numerous other research which proved that there were no direct link between handphone use and cancer. I even wrote about it here.

Then recently there is this complaint that PBA has been using bleach to clean the dam but it turned out that they were using some cleaning agent and it was not the dam, just the side walls where the scuds flow down a drain and NOT into the dam. This means that they had once again got their facts wrong.

NGOs like this should not be raising panic amongst the people with their sensational press conferences (which will be splashed across all newspapers). They should at least get their facts right and CHECK with the people they are complaining against first. Only when they had gathered enough evidence and with an unfavourable response from ‘perpetrator’ then they should publicise their so-called ‘breaking’ news.

If all CAP ever do is just to complain over this and that, like a naggy, grumpy old grandma, then it is not really representing consumers because aren’t they suppose to help consumers by giving them solutions too? What’s the point of complaining no end when they do not even try to find a solution for consumers?

Might as well change their name to Complaining Association of Penang.

Just the other day, I was having a chat with some friends about reflexology centers and massage parlours that are mushrooming everywhere here.

Practically in every residential area, there are at least one or two such centers. Of course, it is common knowledge that some of these offer more than massage and reflexology. However, they do not do it openly. Some even looked like legit reflexology centers with posters and price lists and even those reflexology chairs that anybody walking in will be fooled by all these. The best part is they really do offer reflexology services, only with some extras.

One of my friends, a man, went to one of these centers for a massage (no lar, he is very straight and tang soon wan so he wasn’t looking for ‘extras’). Imagine his puzzlement when they started asking him strange questions and whether he wanted to ’soak in water’! Luckily he had heard a few of the terms before or else he would have inadvertently agreed to the ‘full works’ without meaning to!

So, it is imperative to know the correct terms when going to these places. Here are some of the phrases I learnt from friends…ehh…I woman mah so if I go to these places, they won’t offer me any extras leh so I have to get from friends lar. So don’t blame me if some of it wrong or different…hearsay very susah to confirm lar and some centers use very innovative terms wan. By the way, these are all in Penang Hokkien.

Term: Chik bi (one course)

Meaning: One touchy feely

Term: Nor bi (two course)

Meaning: One touchy feely and some licking

Term: Sar bi (three course)

Meaning: one touchy feely, some licking and you get to touch a part

Term: sie bi (four course)

Meaning: touchy feely two ways with tongues involved

Term: Chim chui (soak in water)

Meaning: The full ‘treatment’ including dipping something into where it does not belong.

Term: Lak bi (six course)

Meaning: the full treatment including the use of ‘back door’ too.

Now that you know, be careful of which services you agree to! The prices ranged from RM50 to the hundreds depending on which course, er, massage you ordered. Heh.

Also, if you really, really want to go for legitimate massage wan, don’t go to suspicious joints because usually the ‘masseurs’ only know how to do the extras but not the normal massage.

Last night we had a literally sleepless night because we saw a burglar going from house to house in our neighbourhood in the dead of night and when we called the cops, they let the burglar escape scot-free.

Yep, the police really suck big hairy bull’s balls! Like big time!

Now let me recount the sequence of events:

1.45am: TH noticed a suspicious character lurking around some residential houses in our neighbourhood from our balcony. Since we are high up in an apartment, we can see what’s going on at the houses below us.

1.46am: TH called the police Bilik Gerakan (04-2691999 / 228 2222) and reported the suspicious character and gave complete details of the exact location including landmarks, which house, etc.

1.50am: The burglar has entered one of the houses by jumping over the fence so TH called again the cops again in a panic. They said the patrol car is on the way.

1.55am: By now, the burglar has jumped from house to house (those are terrace houses) by jumping over the fences. Since he looked empty handed, we were assuming that he must be searching through all the cars parked in the house compounds for money.

2am: TH called the police again and told them that the burglar had moved on to another street and again gave them the details. The patrol car is nowhere in sight. They said it is on its way.

2.10am: By now, the burglar has ‘covered’ about ten houses in that street and is scouting around another row of houses on the next street. Still, the patrol car is nowhere in sight.

2.20am: Finally the patrol car arrived. The burglar at this time is inside one of the houses. TH called the police and told them to inform the patrol car of the exact house where the burglar is. The patrol car stopped at the right place and two policemen got down. They called TH on his handphone to ask for further details and he told them specifically which house. They shone their torchlights around but apparently didn’t see anything.

However, instead of going up to the house to really check, they walked around and the moment their backs were turned, the burglar took the opportunity to jumped across the fencing to another house and from there, jumped out to the street and took off. TH immediately called the police and told them that the burglar had escaped.

In a normal situation with a good police team, the police would have ran and gave chase. However, those two idiots turned in slow motion and went ‘Mana? Tak nampak?’. TH told them that the burglar had ran off to a dark side lane leading to another road so they better make haste. So, again in slow motion, the two idiots talked for awhile and slowly got into their patrol car. Then, they cruised along the road, purportedly to look for the running burglar. By now, the burglar had got to another road and was merely half running and half walking.

Meanwhile, the fumbling bungling idiots took another road despite accurate, exact directions complete with road names and landmarks by TH over the phone and completely missed the escaping burglar.

After that, the burglar walked off to a road out of our view so we lost sight of him. The police continued to cruise around for awhile and then they too left.

The whole episode ended at around 3am.

So, the whole moral of this story is, don’t call the blardy cops if you are being robbed / saw a burglar or being threatened by criminals because:

1. It takes them 35 minutes to get to a place in a time when there is absolutely no traffic and the nearest police station is only 5 minutes’ drive away

2. Even if the criminal is right in front of them, they can’t see them. It is my deduction that criminals must have a police-proof shield where police could not see them even if they are standing right in front of them

3. The police tends to act in slow motion, probably thinking they are in some major Hollywood action-packed movie which needed a slow motion section of police ‘in action’.

4. It is more reliable to have your own CCTV, house alarm, high spiky fencing, plenty of lighting and a well-trained huge guard dog which will bite any uninvited trespassers especially in the middle of the night and not eat any food given by strangers.

5. You are not safe in your own home even with a police patrol car right outside your doorstep. If you depend on the police in Malaysia, you are doomed!

6. The police are too busy firing tear gas and water cannons at innocent people who were demanding their rights and arresting bloggers for sedition. They have no time for petty cases like murder, rape, robbery, burglary, snatch thefts, etc.

These few weeks has been full of political squabbles what with the federal government going all out to anak-tirikan (ill-treat) Pakatan Rakyat states including Penang by imposing stupid rulings such as it being wrong for the Pakatan Rakyat DCM to hand out specs to students during school hours or cut off important councils such as severing the PTAC ties with the state government.

So, taking a look at today’s latest news in Malaysiakini and The Star, I am glad to see the Syariah Court judge has good sense to allow a woman, who had converted due to marriage, to renounce Islam. it is indeed a big step. Amongst the people, it was always known that once you converted to Islam, it was virtually impossible to renounce it in Malaysia.

Apostasy is frowned upon and luckily, not illegal in Penang but all the same, not sanctioned or allowed.

So, this case, the judge had wisely decided to let the poor woman practice the religion of her own choice. True, they had to drag the case for two years, for she had applied to renounce the religion in 2006 but still, it is better than a big resounding NO!

Also, it is GREAT that the judge even ticked off the state Islamic religious council for not doing its job. HAH. Serves them right! Here is a quote I find thought-inducing (and below that news on this case by Malaysiakini):

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
- Steven Weinberg

Article from Malaysiakini:

Syariah Court allows convert to renounce Islam
May 8, 08 1:51pm

The Syariah Court in Penang has allowed a Chinese convert to renounce Islam in a rare decision today.

Apostasy, or renouncing the faith, is one of the gravest sins in Islam and a very sensitive issue in Malaysia where the Islamic courts have rarely allowed such renunciations and have also jailed apostates.

Syariah Court judge Othman Ibrahim said he had no choice but to allow an application by cook Siti Fatimah Tan Abdullah to renounce her faith and return to Buddhism.

“The court has no choice but to declare that Siti Fatimah Tan Abdullah is no longer a Muslim as she has never practised the teachings of Islam,” Othman told a packed courtroom.

“I order the conversion certificate to be nullified,” he added.

Siti Fatimah or Tan Ean Huang, 38, said she had never practised Islamic teachings since she converted in 1998 and only did so to enable her to marry Iranian Ferdoun Ashanian.

The couple married in 2004 but since then her husband has left her following which she filed for the renunciation.

Siti happy with the outcome

Othman said it was clear from witnesses and the evidence presented that Siti had continued to practise Buddhism even after her conversion.

He rebuked the state Islamic religious council for not counselling and looking after the welfare of new converts.

“In this case, it is clear that the council has failed to live up to its responsibilities and the outcome is clear for all to see,” he said.

Siti said she was happy with the court’s decision.

“I’m relieved that the matter is finally settled after two years and I am now looking forward to doing something with my life again,” she said.

The Islamic syariah courts operate in parallel to civil courts here but apply specifically to Muslims.

The court’s verdict comes amid racial and religious tensions in multiracial Malaysia, where minority religious groups fear their rights are being undermined, even though the country is traditionally seen as moderate.

This issue is fast becoming an episode of the popular desperate housewives series except that it does not involve sex nor housewives but er, busy professionals.

So, on Labour Day, the said desperate housewives Pertubuhan Bunga Tanjung (PBT) members challenged the Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and blogger turned MP Jeff Ooi to an open debate on the issue on the dissolution of PBT and the disbursement of its funds.

Clearly darn pissed off with the term ‘desperate housewives’ which Jeff had labeled them in his posts about the whole issue, the ex-president Puan Sri Chui Kah Peng (who is the wife of former CM Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon) clearly stated that they are not desperate nor are they housewives but ‘busy professionals’. She also said what the PBT has done were in accordance to the PBT constitution and all was above-board.

She insisted that all the decisions were made by 47 members who were present at the meeting on March 9 this year. So, it is valid and above-board.

So, what’s Lim Guan Eng’s response? Well, prior to the Puan Sri Chui’s outburst, Guan Eng had said that the PBT advisor Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon should be the one to explain since he is the advisor and in Guan Eng’s own words ‘leave the poor lady alone’. As for Jeff, well, Jeff is in Vietnam so unavailable to be part of this whole ‘episode’.

Are you confused by now? Because it gets even more interesting (or boring, depending on how you look at it) after that.

On the next day (May 2) Guan Eng declined Puan Sri Chui’s challenge to an open debate and invited her to go meet him to talk about it instead. He then said she is just angry over Jeff’s post and he does not want to say anything further. It was also the day that the newspapers published Guan Eng’s ‘leave the poor lady alone’ statement.

So, by now, even more irate that she was denied the chance to publicly shout at the man who took over her husband’s post, Chui jumped on the ‘leave the poor lady alone’ statement and said Guan Eng was being sexist by saying that. She also claimed that Guan Eng also said ’she is just a woman, may be she does not know the constitution’ (reported in Nanyang & China Press).

She claimed he was demeaning women with those statements. She also refused to go meet Guan Eng to talk about the whole issue amicably.

Guan Eng, on the other hand, instructed his political secretary Ng Wei Aik to write an official reply to Chui in response to her open debate challenge. In the letter, Ng has asked Chui to explain three main issues before she starts challenging the CM again. The three main issues:

1. Does the 47 PBT members have the right to decide on the dissolution of PBT and also on donating the RM350k to Bakti on March 9 when they could no longer be valid members of PBT based on article 5 of the PBT constitution which stated that ‘Ordinary members are to be made up of wives of ADUNs and MPs of Penang, except for those from the opposition.’ Because on March 9, the BN has become the Opposition.

2. Why the RM350k was donated to Bakti which is based in Kuala Lumpur when PBT has been receiving RM10,000 annually from the state government and also other monies from other sectors for the purpose of helping charities in Penang.

3. Based on the Article 5 of the PBT constitution, PBT and its fund should rightly be handed to the wives of current ADUNs and MPs, except from the opposition. Also the registered address of PBT is the Chief Minister’s office. So, the former PBT members had no right to decide anything regarding PBT after March 8.

Ng also issued an invitation to the Puan Sri to go and meet with Guan Eng to settle the issue amicably and requested that she take back the RM350k from Bakti and either give it back to PBT or to Penang-based charities to solve the whole issue.

By now, I am so thoroughly fed-up with this issue, I think they should just settle it once and for all instead of issuing statements through the media accusing each other of this and that. What we, as taxpayers, wants to know is what has happened to the money and why did the money go to Bakti. That’s all.

I don’t give a damn about article 5 or whatever of the PBT constitution. If the money is meant for charity, then blardy give it to charity here in Penang and not another wives’ association in another state where nobody knows what will happen to the money!

As for the so-called sexist remarks by Guan Eng, well, we will never know whether he uttered the damaging ’she is just a woman, maybe she does not know the constitution’ remark because it was only reported by China Press and Nanyang which are sister companies and no other newspapers. Nevertheless, I hope Guan Eng will explain this.

The ‘leave the poor lady alone’ (reported in The Sun) was not sexist in any way. He was merely telling the press not to sensationalise the whole thing and to leave her alone. That’s not sexist.

This show will probably continue on for awhile. Popcorn anyone?

Finally, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has given the green light for NCER by adopting the Northern Corridor Implementation Act (Star online report below).

To many Penangites, few knew what the heck NCER is. Even fewer knew the benefits of NCER. I have read the blueprint and its supposed programme to develop and accelerate economic growth in the northern region covering Perlis, Kedah, Penang and north of Perak. You can read the blueprint here.

IMHO, it is all nothing but a load of hogwash. Oh and don’t forget the PR (that’s public relations, not pagerank) benefits for the BN government when they first introduce it. It is one of the ‘goodies’ given out before the elections. You know, to cover the people’s eyes with bright, shiny things so that they forgot all about the mounds of dirt in plain view.

The NCER introduces more mega-projects which only benefits we-all-know which type of contractors and which only ends up as another big white elephant. Or worse, the projects never take off and remain as just another imaginary candy being dangled before a two-year-old so that the kid will behave accordingly.

So, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, are you sure you have thought about it and seriously studied the blueprint which is nothing more than pretty colours to impress but empty promises? I am not against the NCER project but I am against the whole idea behind it, which is to pull wool across the voters’ eyes so that they forget about BN’s shortcomings / failures. Even it failed to do that as obviously, the general public do not take so kindly to having unsubstantial shiny things being dangled before their eyes!

So, why don’t we stick to real sustainable development programmes instead of this load of hogwash eh?

Just my two cents’.

Penang supports NCER agency act

By NG SU-ANN

PENANG: The state government will adopt the Northern Corridor Implementation Agency Act which empowers the agency to implement plans for the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) despite its earlier reservations.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the state decided to adopt the Act to speed up economic development in the region and federal projects in Penang.

Penang is believed to be the first of the four states (the others are Perlis, Perak and Kedah) under the NCER to endorse the Act.

Lim said the state executive council had discussed the issue at great lengths for almost two months before coming to a decision at its meeting on Friday.

“We were initially concerned that the Act would threaten the state government’s power and cause it to diminish. However, under the Act’s Clause 1 (5), all decisions made by the agency have to be done unanimously.

“As I’ll be sitting in the agency’s committee by virtue of my position as Chief Minister, I can ensure that Penang’s interests will be protected,” he told newsmen Saturday before meeting delegates from the Institute of Engineers Malaysia (Penang branch) and Malaysian Institute of Planners (Penang branch) at his Komtar office.

Lim said the agency’s 11 members were the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, the heads of the four states, two federal ministers, a government officer and two representatives from the private sector.

He distributed to newsmen copies of a letter dated March 20 from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who requested him to endorse the Act so that its implementation could take effect on April 1.

On his meeting with the engineers and planners, Lim said he wanted to get their views on how to improve Penang.

He also said the state would invite qualified professionals to sit in the Penang Tender Board’s Committee.

“We are also keen to get retired engineers to sit in the Penang Planning Appeals Board regardless of their race, religion, gender and political ties,” he added.

Due to the wonderfully hot, humid and rain-less weather, which is perfect for an outdoor concert, we went to the Penang World Music Festival at the Quarry Park next to the Botanic Gardens last night.

Mono Blanco from Mexico

Beneath the dark starry skies, surrounded by greenery and the barely discernible sounds of insects and some night animals, the setting was indeed perfect for the wonderful musical experience that was the Penang World Music Festival.

Okay, enough of the advertorial, if I write more, I may have to charge PTAC for this free advertisement..heheheh…

Jokes aside, I love the concert! However, the music is the type that only certain people could appreciate, that is, people who doesn’t mind paying RM50 each to sit on grass / sit on the ground / endure mosquito bites, be prepared for the capricious weather which may produce downpours, and on top of that, listen to music that is hard to categorize.

Teada from Ireland

Now, we come to the bands that played on Friday. We missed the first one, Dya Singh, but listened to Teada from Ireland, Dendang Anak from Terengganu, Mono Blanco from Mexico and Afenginn from Denmark. We wanted to stay for the last one, Salem Tradition from Reunion Island but it was too late and my toddler was already nodding off, although he enjoyed it more than both of us!

The music was all instrumental, with minimal or no singing, and most have dance-able beats. It is hard to describe the music because it is more like a blend of classical, ethnic, new age, a li’l bit of rock and roll, jazz and techno. That’s why I say it is hard to categorize.

Dendang Anak from Terengganu

It is mostly ethnic music, for example, Teada plays Irish music but jazz it up with faster rhythms and beats. Or the Mono Blanco belts out La Bamba to a different beat. However, to all you rock / rap/ heavy metal / oldies lovers out there, I doubt that you’d enjoy this much though. But if you want to experience an all new type of musical experience, this concert is a great place to start!

Afenginn from Denmark

I attended last year’s festival and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed with the music as it is really my kind of music. But, yes there is always a but, I preferred the bands from last year more. At least, last year, they have really exotic bands, you know, like really orang asli type of bands using all sorts of different traditional musical instruments. This year, the bands are mostly modern-type bands.

Fun factor rating: 8 /10

Musical experience rating: 8 /10

Variety rating: 5 /10

Value-for-money: 5/10 ( RM50 each is too costly so if you go for three nights it is RM150! They should have maintained the price at RM40)

Will I attend next year’s concert? Perhaps. I will have to look at the list of bands first.

And if they increase the ticket price to RM60 each, forget it!!! The concert may be good but not blardy worth RM60 per person so that some fat lau ee can go traipsing around the world!

I just came across something really funny today…the desperate housewives wives of former BN MPs and ADUNs are challenging Jeff Ooi to an open debate for his blog entries about Pertubuhan Bunga Tanjung titled Desperate Housewives.

The funniest thing about this is that this bunch of hasbeens’ wives are insisting that they are not desperate housewives and that there is nothing wrong for them to dissolve the association which is a non-governmental organisation.

Of course, they are saying that it is all in accordance with their organisation’s constitution for them to dissolve the whole thing and give away RM350,000 in their coffers to Bakti. They had around RM590k and they also gave RM220k to BOLD. And the paltry sum that was left were donated to several charitable organisations.

So, what is in the dissolved organisation’s constitution?

Well, the ex-president Puan Sri Chui Kah Peng says that the constitution states that:

‘Ordinary members are to be made up of wives of ADUNs and MPs of Penang, except for those from the opposition.’

I found a copy of the PBT constitution and it is stated here:

Keahlian

5.1 Keahlian Pertubuhan Bunga Tanjung ialah isteri terdiri dari Ahli Biasa dan Ahli Bersekutu seperti berikut:-

a. Ahli Biasa

i. Isteri ADUN dan Parlimen bagi Negeri Pulau Pinang kecuali mereka dari parti pembangkang

ii. Isteri Ahli Dewan Undangan Negara bagi Negeri Pulau Pinang kecuali mereka dari parti pembangkang

iii. Isteri kepada YB Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri Pulau Pinang

iv. Isteri kepada YB Penasihat Undang-undang Negeri Pulau Pinang

v. Isteri kepada YB Pegawai Kewangan Negeri Pulau Pinang

vi. Isteri bekas Ahli Dewan Undangan Negara bagi Negeri Pulau Pinang kecuali mereka dari parti pembangkang

Now, if translated, it certainly means that the membership of PBT is only for wives of state assemblymen, MPs in Penang who are not from the opposition.

That is very crystal clear. Do note that there was no mention of BN anywhere!

Errr…Puan Sri Chui Kah Peng, ar, don’t you know who is the opposition in Penang now ar? You stated that you had the AGM on March 9. How can you hold the AGM then when you are no longer valid members of PBT because on March 9, BN is no longer the state government but the opposition.

So, is it even right for PBT to dissolve itself by votes from non-valid members? Or for PBT to give away the money meant for charity (RM350,000!!!!)? I mean the RM220k to Bold and the paltry few thousands to the few charitable organisations are above board. After all, the money is meant for charitable organisations. But to Bakti???

Hmmm…Puan Sri Chui Kah Peng, I know you are not desperate and you are offended by the term ‘housewife’ but heck, you sure do have a lot of explaining to do!

So, I hope Jeff will take up the ex-PBT members’ challenge and put them in their right places!

Hummpppphhh…some housewives women can be so extreme lar especially when their husbands are no longer in the limelight.

So, the 19-year-old college student who thought it was fun to give death threats to a prominent politician and lawyer like Karpal Singh in a comment of a blog has learnt a really hard lesson.

He had his ass hauled in by the police as it is against the law to be issuing death threats and all.

That’s not all, the boy apparently is so desperate and repentant that he has written a letter to Karpal apologising for his ‘rash actions’. Karpal, being a real true empathetic gentleman, forgave him and now intended to try to help the boy!

Seems like Karpal will be appealing to the police to release the boy and not pursue the case. We are talking about the boy who said ‘darah karpal halal dibunuh’ in a blog. So, what made Karpal withdraw his report against the boy?

I happen to get a copy of the letter from the boy which I reproduce here( sorry, I have to remove the name and ic because I don’t want my own ass to be hauled into jail!) :

Terima Kasih.

Yang benar,

Muhammad Axxxxx

Heh… I think the boy won’t be mouthing off writing nonsensical comments in blogs or websites ever again!

So, to all you bloggers and commentators alike. Beware of what you write because the net has millions of eyes!

So a guy hugged and tried to kiss his girlfriend while on a date. The girl, for some reasons known only to her, rejected it eventhough he is her boyfriend but he probably didn’t take no for an answer and continued with the hugging.

Luckily, she broke away and ran off to tell her brother who promptly brought reinforcement to catch the guy. They sent the amorous man to the police station and lodged a police report that he had molested his girlfriend.

I don’t know…it sounds a bit strange that they are actually a couple and the guy was sent to jail for not accepting the fact that ice princess do not like being touched. Maybe its because the girl is only 19 and the guy is 29 and a rubber tapper at that. Maybe she thinks he is going too fast. Or maybe, she is trying to break off and he tried to persuade her otherwise.

Or were there underlying reasons behind all this? I guess we will never know… What we know is that it never pay to be too amorous, eh? So, guys listen up! Don’t take the liberty to touch here touch there thinking your girlfriend won’t mind. There are laws in this country and she may have your horny ass hauled in for molest if she doesn’t like it! Ask properly and you shall not pay for it this way.

Now, back to the story. The guy got five months jail and today in High Court, where he had appealed against the sentence, the judge was scornful of the other judge who passed the sentence.

“Like this, people dare not go dating anymore,” the judge reportedly said.

So, the judge reduced the guy’s sentence and fined him RM1,500 instead.

Wah…RM1,500 he could even pay for two hours with the maths genius hooker in UK! And that is not only confined to touchy-feely all but the whole works!

Tsk..tsk..tsk… Although it may seem a mere slap on the wrist to those earning a lot, to this rubber tapper guy who is earning RM200 a month, it is 7 months of pay! Besides, if he can’t pay it, he will have to spend 3 months in jail.

So, the moral of this story is, respect thy women be it girlfriends, sisters, mothers, cousins, grandmothers, etc for hell hath no fury than an angry woman out for vengeance!

Women power rules! Mwahahahaha…

Update:

Here’s the full article from Star online:

Judge: Five months’ jail for hugging girlfriend is extreme

By PRISCILLA DIELENBERG

PENANG: A High Court judge found that the five-month sentence imposed on a rubber tapper for outraging the modesty of his girlfriend by hugging and kissing her as unwarranted because of the couple’s relationship.

“No one would dare to go dating again with such an excessive punishment, given the relationship. No man would want to ask our anak dara (young women) out anymore.

“This is the reality of life,” said Justice Abdul Rahim Uda

He was hearing an appeal by Mohamad Roslan Zainol, 29, against his conviction and sentence for outraging the modesty of an 18-year-old girl by hugging her at a beach in Telok Molek, Teluk Air Tawar, North Seberang Prai, at 9.30pm on Nov 29 last year.

According to the statement of facts, Mohamad Roslan was the girl’s boyfriend and they had sought shelter under a tree when it began to rain.

He then tried to kiss her and hugged her tight several times, but she struggled free and ran off.

The girl’s brother later took Mohamad Roslan to a police station and lodged a report.

A magistrate’s court in Butterworth had on Dec 3 last year jailed Mohamad Roslan five months after he pleaded guilty to the offence. His family later got him a lawyer and he was allowed stay of execution on the jail term pending the appeal.

Yesterday, Justice Abdul Rahim Uda said the sentence was unwarranted because of the couple’s relationship.

DPP Muna Mohamed Jaafar, who seemed to agree with the judge that the five-month jail term was excessive, said Mohamad Roslan had to be given appropriate punishment as a lesson for him and to those inclined towards such action.

Justice Abdul Rahim dismissed Mohamad Roslan’s appeal against his conviction, but allowed his appeal against his sentence.

In mitigation, Mohamad Roslan’s counsel A. Premanand said his client had repented and promised not to repeat such offences.

Justice Abdul Rahim fined Mohamad Roslan RM1,500 in default three months’ jail.
