Dragons racing across the water

The first memory I ever have of the Dragon boat race was when I was about five years old and the event was being held along Gurney Drive. Ever since then I did not get to watch the race again until recent years when they started having it at the Teluk Bahang Dam.

Frankly, I’d outgrown watching a bunch of people pushing and pulling paddles to move some boats with the head of dragons across an expense of water. It was boring. Mind-numbingly boring. And the heat was unbearable. So, I stopped going to watch it. The only reason I would go is to gawk and ogle at buff and tanned mat salehs …*saliva drips* Heck, one look at these handsome men with their muscly, fit bodies, it is worth the heat and trouble of driving all the way up there…. There’s nothing more fun than openly staring at some delicious flexing pecs attached to a really saliva-inducing body attached to an even more dreamy face…

So, if you want to see sweaty tanned and buff men and yes, there are women too, head on over to the Teluk Bahang Dam to watch them do this:

This year, it is some Club Crew Championship somethingorother so there are more participants (**read: more gorgeous, gape-inducing, well-built mat salehs to ogle at**) and it’s on from today till Sunday.

The race will start at 8.30am and ends on 6pm daily. No entrance fee. But you may have to park quite far and take the shuttle bus up. Otherwise, go in the evening in your jogging clothes and jog up from the place you park your car. It’s a great place to exercise so might as well kill two birds with one stone, eh? Exercise and a chance to gawk at handsome men watch an international dragon boat race.

Oh, bring loads of water and some form of shade as in caps or umbrellas because it is darn hot there and you could get heat stroke! By the way, although it is called a Dragon boat race, I did notice that some of the boats have really ugly dragons on their boats.
