willchua: kinda defeats the purpose of 'saving' money, don't you think?

JayTee: You will be surprised. To some people, RM10 - RM40 is A LOT of money worth wasting the hours stuck in the jam and queuing at petrol stations.

baby: I am equally stumped but then these people damn kiasu mah, so they don't think like that. Maybe they like getting stuck in traffic jams.

Roshann: you may not take 3 hours to fill up but hundreds others were stuck in traffic jams for more than 3 hours just to get to petrol stations. Since this is my blog, I can write open insults whenever I like. Anyone who feels insulted or offended have the option to click away, nobody is forcing them to read this blog. A closed mind is only good for small shrinking brains so no thanks, I'll keep mine open.

acura: I think the government purposely chose that time, must be fun to cause all that panic rush to petrol stations.

Agree agree! Especially those who queue till 4am. Don't they realise that the price hike took effect after 12am? So dumb

One more thing, why those the government choose to announce it just before the evening rush hour? Can't they announce it at night during the prime time news. That will ease the congestion.

Well, here I'll have to totally disagree with you. Lemme' illustrate the situation to ya.

My car can store about 50 litres of fuel.
At RM1.92 = RM96.00
At RM2.70 = RM135.00

Savings = RM39.00

I took about half-an hour to get to my turn. Which means,I saved about RM39.00 in this 30 mins. Unless you have a job that can earn you RM78.00 an hour in that period of waiting to fill your tank, then you'd be smart to not fill up.

So, its like saying that you wouldn't take RM40 that a person offers you just because you know another stranger like this ain't coming along soon. Opportunity costs are considered relevant. As the saying goes, a penny saved is a penny earned.

And again, I would like to repeat that it didn't take 3 hours to fill my tank. It took me about 30 mins. And based on my observation, most people turned their cars off while waiting.

P/s: Being too open minded can lead to brains falling out. An open insult isn't that wise.

I must say, you've made very good points. It's totally unreasonable that you queue up 2-3 hours just to save a few bucks. Yes, some ppl may have low income and want to save that few bucks... but come on. Most of them are not.

Malaysians. Kiasu. Lose few bucks oso can't. Haih. Hahah is it worth it wasting hours of your own time AND other people's time just for that few measley dollars? Life shouln't be wasted like that. It's not worth it.

Just my opinion. :)

wong: exactly my point!

KY: tell me about it man! I was cursing all the way...

tom: you must have went early, because here the petrol stations were so packed, you'd be even lucky to get near.not to mention the horrendous jam leading to the petrol station.

rachel: yes, unfortunately, a lot of people seem to think that they are 'saving' money from all that. Go figure.

lilian: in your case, u all really saved money because u didn't waste the petrol queuing up and getting stuck in jam unlike all those stupid people!

falcon: if they go to the petrol stations before the mad rush, then they really do save money but if they purposely go to pump petrol with the illusion of saving money after the announcement when all cars are heading that way, then they are actually burning up more petrol, wasting time, causing more pollution and overheating the car because of the jams. That's not saving money, that's pure foolishness.

Thomas: aiyah, all petrol station boss damn rich wan. They are selling black gold after all.

r.p.: at least you smart enough not to wait till after 5pm when all the jam started.

pablopabla: yes it does make me feel better. That's what personal blogs are for, to rant against stupid people. LOL. However, you forgot one point. How can they be saving money if they are wasting more petrol (by burning more petrol being stuck in the jams), causing more pollution, overheating their cars and wasting hours in the jams and queues? Let's say they wasted about 3 hours to go to the petrol station and based on a RM10 hourly wage rate, that means they wasted RM30, then what about the petrol burnt when the engines were idling away in the jams and queues? Also, from the start I am referring to those who 'made a beeline to petrol stations because of the petrol price hike', not those with empty tanks.

izzat: Again, I am referring to those who made a beeline to petrol stations because of the petrol price hike, not those with empty tanks.Haih, must I state there 'ALL stupid people who purposely go to the petrol stations because of price hike and not because of empty tanks'?? Eh, like I said to pablopabla, by getting stuck in the jams and long queues, etc, the people, lower income or not, are losing out more than 'saving' money. Lost time due to traffic jams is considered money also you know.

Tommy: yes, but you see hor, many people are just darn selfish thinking about the so-called money they saved by doing this. You think they cared about the pollution and effects to the environment meh? They don't even care about the wasted hours despite the fact that TIME is MONEY.

Also the CO2 emission sure damn high yesterday! when our car stopped while engine is running (this is what happen when traffic jam), that causes higher CO2 emission. That's not encouraged if people with some sense of STOP Global Warming and conscious of climate change! Today is Earth Day, look out the info to reduce CO2 emission at least, please

i agree with what pablopabla said. not all went to pump stations last night went there because they want that price of oil at rm1.92/litre. ya.. you can said that mostly of them went there due to rise of price but IMO you've no right to said such "words" and label them as what you wrote up there.

ok, i also went to pump stations last night.. because my car tank already at "E". So? am I "as what you said"?LOLS..

rm2.70/litre maybe is nothing for you. but mind also other people with low income.

Does it make you feel better calling everyone who went to the pumps yesterday evening / night stupid, morons and idiots? Not all do it just to save money. Some do it because their tanks are empty and they have no other choice unless they want to risk having their car stalled somewhere. Some do it because whatever little savings they get mean something to them - especially the lower income group. RM15 may not be much to you but it may represent a day's meal or two to some. With prices spiraling and people are finding it hard to make ends meet, do you blame these people to try to save whatever little?

You have the right to be angry but please don't make general labels on people without finding out their actual reasons for doing so.
